Free Support Sessions
Have you personally suffered from overt racial abuse? Have you been subjected to racial profiling or micro aggressions? Have you had to curb you ambitions or plans due to systemic racism? Do you care for, or do you care about someone who has had to deal with any of the above? Are you interested in learning more about how racism affects your community?
If the answer to any of these is yes, please come and join Lianna Bannister, for an open and honest and completely confidential support session.
This initial session is open to all, regardless of age, race, gender or politics.
It is a space to explore the difficult questions of race and identity within a ethnically homogenous community.
Lianna identifies as mixed heritage and is in her final year studying BSc Hons Degree in Psychology. It is through her studies, increased awareness around institutionalized and systemic racism, very much prevalent in the U.K, that she has been part of the driving force in wanting to create more awareness and open conversations around curbing overt racism. Lianna would like the opportunity to speak with members of the community, in order to understand more of how SAR can work together in support of any concerns or ideas from those who experience racism first-hand. It would also be beneficial for those who may not experience racism first-hand but have children or partners who do, to join the conversation to hear from more in the community and to also share any thought’s you may have.
To join, please email us leaving your name, email and a message stating you’d like to be included in the sessions before December 15th 2020 and you will be added to the group. We will have to cap the group at 15 so it will have to be first come first served. Due to current restrictions, it will be a zoom meeting, but we hope in the near future, to be able to host personal face-to-face groups.
With much love and we look forward to hearing from you,
The Stroud Against Racism Team
